The Surrey-warehouse advantage on a tent install

Most Lower Mainland tent vendors pay a freight overhead on a Surrey install — their warehouse is in Vancouver, Richmond, or Burnaby, and the truck adds 30–60 minutes of Highway 99 corridor time before crew time begins. We don’t. The warehouse is in Surrey. The truck is already loaded and 15 minutes from most Surrey ZIPs.
Two specific things that gap buys you:
- Same-day staging on supplemental marquees (20×20 popups, 20×40 add-ons) when our calendar permits. Other vendors can’t do this — by the time their crew finishes Highway 99, they’re already running into traffic on the return.
- Tighter setup-to-event windows. A Saturday evening reception means most vendors install Friday morning. We can install Friday afternoon or even Saturday morning if the floor plan is straightforward. That reduces overnight ballast worries and weather exposure of your equipment.
South Surrey peninsula — the marquee calendar core
South Surrey acreage weddings are the largest single share of our Surrey marquee bookings. Crescent Beach, Hazelmere Valley, Elgin, and the broader peninsula run on rural-road truck access with firm lawn or graded acreage as the surface.
The standard install is a 20×60 marquee with sidewalls, engineered ground stakes, bistro string lighting along the ridge, and (October–April) a tent heater. Setup runs 4–5 hours; teardown is 2–3. For larger weddings (150–200 guests), 30×60 marquee on a single footprint or linked 20×40s for split ceremony/reception zones.
Hazelmere afternoon wind off the peninsula is reliable enough that we recommend sidewalls year-round on open-field installs here. The marquee itself doesn’t change between a Cloverdale install and a Hazelmere install — what changes is anchor count.
Cloverdale and Stetson Bowl — equestrian and rodeo scale
Cloverdale Rodeo Grounds and Stetson Bowl run some of the largest event footprints in Surrey. We’ve installed 30×60 and linked 20×40 configurations on the hardscape — full ballast on every leg, no stakes. Loading-dock access is ample, and we coordinate the install window with the venue’s primary programming.
For Cloverdale Rodeo–adjacent corporate galas and the Surrey Fair grounds-style events, the marquee is one piece of a much larger order: dance floor for the central tent, bistro lighting strands across the ridge, sidewalls for noise control and weather, and the chairs and tables that go inside.
Bear Creek Park, Surrey Civic Plaza, and ceremony permits
Bear Creek Park’s ceremony zones take 20×40 and 20×60 footprints depending on the permit zone. Civic Plaza hardscape installs cap at 20×40 in most configurations — coordinated with the City’s events team during quoting.
Park-permit ceremony marquees are typically smaller than acreage receptions (50–100 guest range). We’ve worked the Bear Creek calendar enough to know the standard install windows and which zones accept which footprints.
Newton, Whalley, Guildford, Fleetwood — backyard residential
Standard residential backyard pattern: setbacks, slope, sprinkler heads, and where the truck can stop without blocking the laneway. Most Surrey lots accept a 20×40 comfortably; larger lots (1/4-acre+) accommodate 20×60. We walk the lot during quoting for backyards we haven’t installed at.
Same-day swaps and Surrey-only short-notice add-ons
Surrey delivery from our warehouse runs 15–25 minutes depending on ZIP. For mid-event swaps (sidewall tear, lighting strand failure, sudden need for an extra 20×20 popup), Surrey is the only city where we can usually arrive within 45 minutes during business hours.
A 100-guest Surrey tent rental order
For a 100-guest Surrey wedding — say a Saturday in August at a South Surrey acreage with ceremony and reception under a single marquee — a typical tent-side order looks like:
- 1 × 20×60 marquee tent (covered ceremony + reception in single footprint)
- 4 × tent sidewalls (full enclosure for evening)
- 8 × bistro string-light strands across the marquee ridge
- 1 × tent heater (October–April bookings; optional in summer Surrey evenings)
- Engineered ground stakes (default for acreage grass; full ballast on Stetson Bowl hardscape)
